Handmade embroidered linen curtains in an elegant living room with piano

Custom Handmade Embroidery

Personalized linen textiles crafted by hand in our Athens atelier. Your names, your motifs, your piece.

Embroider Riches creates custom hand-embroidered linen textiles in its Athens atelier, including personalized cafe curtains, tablecloths, embroidered pillows, and ecclesiastical Christian pieces. Master embroiderer Antonia specializes in traditional white cutwork embroidery, a labor-intensive technique practiced today by very few professional artisans. Other techniques offered include Richelieu cutwork, azur hemstitch, and broderie anglaise. Pieces are made on premium European linen or high-quality cotton. Pricing ranges from approximately €70 ($85) for smaller pieces to €3,000 ($3,500) for large or elaborate commissions, with worldwide tracked shipping.

Your Vision, Our Craft

From Conversation to Creation

Every custom piece begins with a conversation. A pair of elegant salon curtains with elaborate floral and figural cutwork. A window panel with intertwining vines and classical motifs. A tablecloth with a medallion border for a dining room that deserves something extraordinary. Whatever the vision, we translate it into classic European cutwork embroidery on your choice of premium linen or high-quality cotton.

We create full window curtains, cafe curtains, decorative banners, tablecloths, bed linens, pillows, and runners. Designs range from intricate figural compositions and ornamental florals to personalized pieces with names, monograms, or dates. Some clients come with a clear idea. Others ask us to design something based on a mood: romantic, classical, Mediterranean, ecclesiastical. We work with you until the design feels right, providing sketches and mockups before any fabric is cut.

The Technique

Rooted in Centuries of European Craft

Every piece is made using a vintage Singer treadle machine, the same foot-powered machine that was the backbone of European needlework from the mid-1800s onward. Patented by Isaac Singer in 1850, this machine became the tool of choice for artisan embroiderers across the Mediterranean and beyond. In homes, workshops, and ateliers from Greece to Italy to France, generations of women built their craft on these machines.

Antonia still works on hers the same way. The process begins and ends by hand: first the design is drawn and transferred onto the fabric, then the linen is carefully cut to create the openwork pattern. The cutwork is then stitched and secured on the treadle machine, guided entirely by hand and foot, with no digital controls or automation. The final details and finishing touches are completed by hand, just as they were at the start. Techniques include Richelieu cutwork, azur hemstitch framing, and lacework detailing. For clients who want a touch of color, cross stitch elements can be added as a complement to the primary cutwork design.
